Pollinering er en livgivende handling – en delikat utveksling som overfører liv fra én organisme til en annen og opprettholder kontinuiteten i tilværelsen. Med inspirasjon fra naturlige pollinatorer som bier, med deres stille arbeid som opprettholder hele økosystemer, og fra de norrøne nornene – mytologiske skikkelser som vever skjebnens tråder – utforsker Infinite Pollination hvordan kropper, arter og økologiske systemer er forbundet på tvers av tid, rom og dimensjon.

Skapt og regissert av billedkunstner Cecilia Fiona, utfolder verket seg som et meditativt ritual – delvis begravelse, delvis fruktbarhetsrite – der skulptur, bevegelse og stemme flettes sammen. Utøverne i forestillingen – kosmiske pollinatorer – bærer små hybride vesener fra én skulpturell kropp til en annen, og gir dem liv gjennom stemmene sine, mens de vekker til live summingen av insekter og ånders hvisken.

Denne gjentatte overføringen, som kombinerer bevegelse og vokalisering, danner et økologisk system inne i installasjonen og knytter mikro- og makrokosmos sammen.

Iført håndsydde og håndmalte kostymer av Fiona beveger de kosmiske pollinatorene seg gjennom skulpturelle, fantasifulle landskap skapt av organiske materialer. Ved å bruke elementer som papirmasse og resin utforsker Fiona ikke bare det symbiotiske forholdet mellom kroppen og jorden, men bygger også disse fantastiske miljøene bokstavelig talt av selve naturens stoffer.

Pollination is a vital act, a delicate exchange that transfers life from one organism to another and sustains the continuity of existence. Drawing inspiration from natural pollinators such as bees, whose quiet labor supports entire ecosystems, as well as from the Norse Norns, mythological figures who weave the threads of fate, Infinite Pollination explores how bodies, species, and ecological systems are interlinked across time, space, and dimension.

Created and directed by visual artist Cecilia Fiona, the piece unfolds as a meditative ritual—part funeral, part fertility rite—where sculpture, movement, and voice are interwoven. The performers in this piece—cosmic pollinators—carry small hybrid beings from one sculptural body to another, animating them with their voices, evoking the buzzing of insects and the murmurs of spirits.

This repeated act of transfer, combining movement and vocalisation, forms an ecological system within the installation and connects micro- and macrocosmos.

Wearing hand-sewn, hand-painted costumes by Fiona, the cosmic pollinators move through a sculptural imaginative landscapes, crafted from organic materials. Using elements such as paper pulp and resin, Fiona not only explores the symbiotic relationship between the body and the earth but also literally builds these fantastical environments from the very substances of the natural world.
